3 Ways To Celebrate Love Day

February 14, 2019 — by Chelsey Bishoff

IMG_8636-960x1280.jpg

Valentine’s Day is a really special holiday. It’s a day to celebrate love– all kinds of love, and not just the romantic kind. We spent our day giving back to our community, our friends and even ourselves! It is so important to be intentional and to spread kindness whenever we get the chance. It is easy to over look this Valentine’s Day if you don’t have a significant other, but instead take this time to give some love to everyone!

We started our day by stopping by this flower stand at a local business. All the money from it was donated to a non profit organization, A Safe Place, focused on sex trafficking prevention. Giving back to our community is so essential, and what a wonderful and easy way to do so!

What a great way to start our Valentine’s Day! We picked our flowers and created our very own bouquet. We wanted to continue the “spreading kindness” trend, so we decided to give our bundle of flowers to our best friend!

Next on the list: invite all our gal pals over and celebrate friendship! What’s better than Galentine’s Day with all your best friends?! We made treats and and exchanged small gifts. Lots of bracelets were involved. 😉

Last but not least: treat yo-self. This year is all about self love. Taking time out and spending a little quality time with yourself is something we should do more often. Today, we made sure to take a breather and fuel our bodies. Health and wellness are the best things you can do to honor your body. Put a face mask on, make yourself a nutritious smoothie bowl and grab a good book to read! Trust me, you’ll thank yourself later.

We hope you take these tips and put them to good use this year! Happy Love Day, Pura Vida fam.

Traveling is something we live for! This year we are dedicating our time to going and seeing as many places as possible. But with all of these travels, come many keepsakes! For example, we find ourself with left over foreign cash and coins. Instead of stashing them away, we decided to make something out of it to remember our trip by! We will take you step by step on how to turn your coins into magnets to hang up your photos with!

What you will need:

  1. Foreign coins from your trip
  2. Magnets
  3. Photos from your trip

Gather all your supplies. We bought a magnet strip so we could cut them small enough to fit on the back of the coins.

Cut the magnets, then use the sticky side to stick them on the coins.

Finally, use them to hang up photos from your trip!

Happy travels!

Whether you are traveling or packing your backpack for school, headphones are usually number one in our bag. Nothing is more annoying than a tangled pair wrapped up in all our other items. Today, we will teach you a quick DIY on how to keep them organized and neat when packing them away. Follow along!

Here is what you will need:

  1. two clothes pins
  2. adhesive glue
  3. washi tape
  4. gold sharpie

Start by measuring out the washi tape to fit the top and bottom of the clothes pin. You may have to trim the tape’s edges to fit perfectly.

Next, color the sides gold with your sharpie.

Now time to glue the two clothes pins together.

Face them together on opposite sides.

Clip the earbuds in between the clamp and wrap the headphones in a figure 8 motion between the two pins.

Once you have them all wrapped up, pack them away!

And there you have it. Ready to go!

Who loves decorating the tree at Christmas time? We do! We have so much fun picking out our favorite ornaments to hang up. From little to small we love them all. But what’s even more exciting are homemade ones! Today, we are going to show you have to make salt dough custom ornaments for your tree, These also make as great gifts!

Supplies:

  1. 1 cup of flour
  2. 1/2 cup of salt
  3. 1/2 cup of water

Begin by pouring all the dry ingredients first, then topping it off with the water.

Your dough should become thick and kind of sticky. This is how you know it is ready!

Roll out the dough and pick your favorite cookie cutter shapes.

Gently press in the cookie cutter and remove from the rest of the dough.

Once you have cut them all out, oil a baking sheet and bake in the oven for 2 hours on 250 degrees.

Once they are done baking, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool.

Design them however you want! We then glued the handle onto the back.
