Oven BBQ Foil Packs

Hey PV fans! Today we bring you these easy to prep chicken foil packs! Don’t have a grill? NO PROBLEM. Maybe you forgot to buy coal to burn, or have a small place that can’t host a BBQ. Don’t worry! You can still have the taste of yummy BBQ with the convenience of your oven.

IMG_2693-2What you will need: 
-Boneless chicken breast (amount varies on how many foil packs you are creating)
-Veggies of choice (Good options: asparagus, zucchini, bell peper, tomatoes)
-BBQ sauce
-Foil sheets
-Salt and pepper
-Olive oil

IMG_2683Step 1)  Preheat your oven to 400. Cut up your desired veggies

IMG_2690Step 2) Put desired amount of BBQ sauce on your chicken breast pieces, add veggies to your foil pack, and pinch salt and pepper over top.

IMG_2705Step 3) Drizzle a small amount of olive oil on top of your veggies

IMG_2708Step 4) Place another foil piece on top of your chicken and veggies and fold the two sides together creating a seal.

IMG_2709Step 5) Place foil packs on a cookies sheet and bake 400 degrees for 25 minutes, or until done.

IMG_2711Step 6) Take out of the oven, add more BBQ sauce if you desire, and ENJOY!

Delicious “Apple Cookies” Snack

IMG_0190Today we bring you the most delicious healthy snack treat! Apple cookies! Made with apples, and a bunch of yummy toppings. These are perfect for a mid-day snack as you head back to school, you can easily make them when you’re about to have a study session, or have friends over to talk about how your first week of school is going. You can even enjoy them as a healthier alternative to regular cookies. These apple cookies don’t require any baking, and they take about 5 minutes to prepare.

-Your favorite kind of Apple
-Natural Peanut Butter
-Granola
-Crushed nuts of choice
-Coconut shavings
-Chocolate chips
IMG_0132Step 1) Cut your Apple into flat slices

IMG_0143Step 2) Using a smaller knife, cut a circle ring around the core (seed part) to avoid eating it.

IMG_0151Step 3) Take your flat Apple slices, and smooth a peanut butter layer over them.

IMG_0170Step 5) Add crushed nuts of choice to your Apple cookies. This creates a yummy crunch.

Best Greek Yogurt Bowl

Did you know that Greek Yogurt is a healthier alternative to regular yogurt? It has double the protein, half the carbs, and half the sodium. Additionally, greek yogurt is packed with probiotics (a healthy bacteria that can help boost your immune system!)

We wanted to share with you a way to enjoy greek yogurt, by making a delicious greek yogurt bowl. You can enjoy it for breakfast, a snack, or even dessert! (try adding a few chocolate chips to your bowl for an even sweeter treat!) The best part is, all of the ingredients are apart of a well balanced diet!

What you will need:
-Greek Yogurt (Plain or Honey)
-Granola of choice
-Strawberries
-Blueberries
-Banana
-Shredded coconut
-Raw Honey
-Flax seed (optional)

DIY Photo Magnets

Have you ever wanted a creative way to display your photos? With this easy DIY you can create pretty little photo magnets with your most favorite photos! This is very simple and inexpensive to do in

What you will need:

-2 x 2 inch ceramic tiles (found at most home improvement store)
-Mod Podge
-Magnet strip
-Paint brush
-Scissors
-Small prints of your favorite photos

Step 1) Print off a few of your favorite photos to the size of your tile, or close to it. You can do this by going anywhere that has a printing kiosk, or use a cool polaroid zip printer shown in the photos below.

IMG_0076 IMG_0077Step 2) Paint a layer of Mod Podge onto a ceramic tile.

IMG_0079 Step 3) Paint one more THIN layer of mod podge on top of the photo.

IMG_0090Step 4) Cut the excess photo paper that hangs off the edge of the tile.

IMG_0085Step 5) Cut a strip of magnet and hot glue it to the back of the ceramic piece. Once mod podge layer has dried, hang them on any magnetic surface and admire your new photo magnets!

Chicken Teriyaki Pineapple Boats

Can we just have a pineapple with every meal? You will not regret making these chicken teriyaki pineapple boats for your next lunch or dinner! Using only a few ingredients to add to your chicken, a yummy sweet pineapple, and your choice of white or brown rice, this meal will leave you feeling like a professional chef. Enjoy PV fans!

Ingredients
-Chicken (about 2-3 good size pieces)
-Ripe Pineapple
-White or Brown rice (enough to fill 2 Pineapples)
-Seasame Seeds (optional)
-Soy Sauce (1/3 cup)
-Brown Sugar (1/2 cup)
-Honey (1/4 cup)

Step 1) Cut pineapple in half. Using a knife, make slits in your pineapple. Using a spoon, scoop out the flesh of the pineapple and place in a seperate bowl to add to your chicken later.

IMG_0003 IMG_0005 IMG_0008 IMG_0012 IMG_0015 IMG_0019Step 2) Cook chicken in skillet. Once cooked, place on a cutting board and cut your chicken into cubes.
IMG_0009Step 3) Place cubed chicken back into skillet, set heat to low. Add soy sauce, brown sugar, and honey into your skillet. Stir and cook until hot and brown sugar melts and makes a saucy consistancy.

IMG_0020 IMG_0026 IMG_0029 IMG_0030Step 4) Add a few scoops of pineapple to the chicken from the flesh you saved from earlier. Add in a few teaspoons of sesame seeds if you have them for additional flavor.

IMG_0034Step 5)  Cook about 2 cups of white or brown rice. We used brown rice for this recipe. Scoop your cooked rice into your empty pineapple boat.

Apple Cider Vinegar- Detox Drink

This easy to make Apple Cider Vinegar detox drink will have you feeling refreshed and ready to take on any part of your day! This healthy drink can help you lose weight, stabalize blood sugar, prevent heartburn, boost energy and more!

There are many health benefits to ACV. Many say it has amazing powers because it can do so much good for our bodies. For example, it can help cure a head-ache, clear some heart burn, help calm a upset stomach, and even help reduce acne. It does however have a strong taste to it. That is why we have put together this tasty way to consume ACV in a detox drink for you to enjoy a few times a week, or daily if you would like!

What you will need:
-Apple Cider Vinegar (1 tablespoon)
-Raspberries (4-5 berries)
-Lemon (1 tablespoon lemon juice + a few slices)
-Sweetener of choice (1 teaspoon agave nectar or honey)
-Ice
-Mason jar or glass cup

Step 1) Take a few raspberries and using the back of a spoon to muddle the berries at the bottom of your glass of choice.

Step 2) Add 1 teaspoon of sweetener. Either honey or agave nectar will work. For this post we used Agave nectar.

ACV-8Step 3) Add 1 tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar.

Protein Energy Bites

What is the best mid-day snack, post work out treat, or sweet pick me up?  We have created these protein energy bites for you to enjoy! They take about 5 minutes to make and they are made with all things yummy.  The best part is you don’t even need to bake them!

Ingredients:
-Oats (1 cup)
-Agave Nectar or Honey (3 tablespoons or to desired sweetness)
-Vanilla Protein Powder (1 tablespoon)
-Chocolate Chips – mini or regular (about half a cup)
-Natural Peanut Butter (1/2 cup)

Date Night at the Drive-in – Tips to Prepare

Summer + drive-in movie night! Don’t let the summer end without going to the drive-in! Want to know how to prepare for the best drive-in movie date? Keep reading! Whether you are going with a few friends or your significant other, here are some items you don’t want to forget.

1) Blankets + pillows… a lot of them! Pile the blankets up to make your car more comfortable. Use the pillows as a back rest and for extra comfort. Save a blanket or two to cover up when the cool summer chill hits when the sun goes down.

Mermaid Hair Spritzer

Get that perfect mermaid hair with this “Mermaid Hair Spritzer!” Made with sea salt and a few other ingredients, this will leave your hair feeling soft and smelling AMAZING! To create this wavy beach hair look, you will just need to spray this hair spritzer on wet or dry hair.

– Hot water (1 cup)
-Coconut Oil (1 Tablespoon)
-Sea Salt (1 Tablespoon)
-Hair gel or conditioner (1 Tablespoon)
-Empty Spray bottle (we prefer a glass bottle)
-Essential Oil of choice * Optional *

Step 1) Add hot water into a bowl.

Vanilla Mint Iced Coffee Syrup

Iced coffee is a summer favorite! Now is the perfect time to experiment with new flavors of syrup in your iced coffee drink. This one is made with real vanilla beans, mint leaves, and sugar! Super easy to make at home. Vanilla extract just won’t do for this simple syrup though. You will need to purchase Vanilla Bean from your local store that sells it. We found ours at World Market.

Hope you love this new mint concoction to add to your drinks. Add it to your iced coffee of choice. Check out one of our previous blog posts on DIY COLD BREW . Our cold brew recipe pairs perfectly this this vanilla mint syrup!

What you will need: 
-Sugar (1 cup)
-Water (1 Cup)
-Mint leaves (a small handful)
-One Vanilla Bean Stick

mint-1mint-2Step 1) Add 1 cup of sugar to a medium size sauce pan.

mint-3Step 2) Add one cup of water into pan with your sugar.

mint-5Step 3) Add handful of mint leaves to the pan with sugar and water.

mint-6Step 4) Cut Vanilla bean stick down the middle.

mint-9Step 5) Use knife to scrape out the little black beans contained inside the stick.

mint-10Step 6) Add vanilla beans to pan with all ingredients.

mint-11Step 7) Bring to a slight boil. Mix until sugar is dissolved. Pour into a mason jar or glass storing container.

mint-12Step 8) Put in refrigerator to cool for several hours. (can leave alone for 1-2 days depending on the strength you want the mint flavoring.)

mint-13Step 9) Prepare for use. Take syrup out of the fridge and strain the mint leaves and vanilla beans.

Last Steps: Preparing the perfect mint iced coffee drink. Add ice to you glass. Add milk of choice or half and half. Then add desired amount of your new vanilla mint syrup! (We used about 2 tablespoons.) Pour iced coffee of choice!
