Let’s be honest, most of us don’t make “homemade” pancakes. We usually reach into the pantry for the already prepared, “just add water” mix. While the taste and outcome of those may be pretty good, why not take it up a notch?!
Ready for some AMAZING pancakes? We are here to help! We’ll also show you how to stuff your pancakes with Nutella!
Follow these steps for yummy homemade pancakes. They are the perfect combination of fluffy + sweet, and have that “melt in your mouth” buttermilk taste!
Did you guys know National pancake day is coming up on September 26th? This is what inspired this post!!
What you will need:
-All purposed flour (2 cups)
-Sugar (1/4 cup)
-Baking powder (1 teaspoon)
-Baking soda (1/2 teaspoon)
-Salt (1/4 teaspoon)
-Butter (1/2 cup)
-2 cups buttermilk
Step 1) Prepare by getting a cookie sheet or cutting board and layer a piece of parchment paper over it. Begin by scooping Nutella out of the jar and smoothing it into circles on the parchment paper. Circles should be slightly smaller than the size you want your pancakes to be.
Step 2) Stick your Nutella circles in the freezer for about an hour or until firm.
Step 3) Add flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium size bowl. Whisk together with a fork.
Step 4) In a smaller bowl, add eggs, butter, and buttermilk. Whisk together.
Step 5) Add white flour mixture to egg mix and whisk all ingredients together.
Step 6) Heat griddle or pan to about 350 degrees and spray/pour a small amount of vegetable oil so your pancakes don’t stick! Dollop your pancake batter on heated griddle. Take Nutella circles out of freezer, and place in the center of each pancake. NOTE: Put Nutella circles back in the freezer until you are ready for the next batch as they will melt QUICKLY!
Step 7) Add another layer of pancake batter on top of the Nutella circles. When bubbles start to appear around the edge of pancake, it’s time to flip!
Step 8) Enjoy your yummy homemade pancakes! Goes well with fresh fruit, coffee, and milk!
