This year, we kicked off the back to school season with a donation drive for the Monarch School, an amazing K-12 school with a mission to educate students impacted by homelessness and to help them develop hope for the future.

From August 10th – August 18th, we asked all of you to help us collect school supplies and clothes – including backpacks, socks, pencils, binders, notebooks, markers, and more – to make sure that the 250 students at Monarch School have everything they need to start a successful school year. We were blown away by the response and support!

Click on the video to check out all of the items we collected!

With the help of our local retail partners, Surf Ride, Sun Diego, and Urban Girl, and national brand partners Bombas and Vera Bradley, we were able to collect thousands of items (!!), including:

  • 1,000 socks donated by Bombas
  • 250 backpacks donated by Vera Bradley
  • 1,000+ pencils
  • 600+ pens
  • 300+ folders
  • 100+ notebooks
  • and hundreds of additional items including glue sticks, scissors, colored pencils, crayons, markers, tee’s, and more from all of YOU!

The Pura Vida team also asked each student to write down their goal or promise for the school year, and gave out a bracelet to wear as a reminder to stay on track! Check out Alex and Julie’s promises below!

“I wear this bracelet in promise to do my homework this school year.” – Alex

We’re so thankful to our retail partners, brand partners, and audience for your generosity. Your kind hearts and motivation to give back is so inspiring, and we’re so grateful for your help in support in making such a big difference!

Do you have a promise you made to yourself this school year? If so, wearing a bracelet dedicated to that promise is a great way to remind yourself to stay with it! Comment your promise, and which style you use to keep your goals on track below!

I choose the light blue or coral bracelet to remind myself of my goal this year. My goal this year is to “work hard and play hard” also to just stay positive. Life sucks sometimes but I think having a little reminder about your goals this year can go a long way.
