Tips: Make your Pura Vida Bracelets Last

August 24, 2015 — by Griffin Thall

All of our bracelets are made by hand, 100% waterproof and can stand up to all of your outdoor adventures. Here are some tips to help your Pura Vida last a lifetime:

1) Store them in a pouch to prevent them from tangling with your other accessories.

2) If you’re headed to the beach, our strictly string bracelets (Braided / Flat Braided / Original / Solid) are best suited for the salty water. If you do take an ocean dip with our beaded or metal bracelets, simply give them a good rinse while you wash the sand off your feet.

3) Since our bracelets are easily adjustable, size them down to fit your wrist perfectly so they’re not too loose and don’t catch on anything.

4) Don’t cut the extra string that hangs off the end of your Pura Vida. Those knots ensure the bracelet stays put along with the wax coating on all of our string.

Tips + Tricks to Make Your Jewelry Last

Any good wardrobe has a jewelry collection to match and just like that pair of jeans you had forever, you want your bling to shine like the first day you bought it. Here are a few tips to make your jewelry last:

  1. Store each piece in it’s own bag. Like any precious piece, keep your accessories in the bags or pouches they came with to prevent it from tarnishing and getting scratched. Those clear daily pill boxes also work great for separating everything out and keeping organized.
  2. Apply lotion, perfume and makeup BEFORE your jewelry. The oils and ingredients in your cosmetics can dull your jewelry and build up over time. Remember to put on your jewelry last.
  3. Rinse. I love wearing jewelry to the beach, but when it comes to staying golden, your jewelry doesn’t count. Even the smallest bit of salt can begin to rust any type of metal in a day or two, so remember give your jewelry a good rinse in warm, soapy water along with your bikini.
  4. Clean and polish. Sometimes, accessories are an investment and it’s important to keep them perfectly polished and clean. Use a dedicated jewelry cleaner kit every few months to keep shinin’ on!

“My idea behind this shoot was to capture some summer beach vibes while incorporating the Pura Vida lifestyle.  I focused a bunch on color, sun, and the ocean!  Of course the first thing that was going through my mind while shooting was to find a way to get out of the sweltering heat, but I was also thinking about how to add a little twist to this shoot.  It ended up being a perfect beach day with just the right amount of breeze.  And of course, after we had finished shooting we jumped right into the ocean.” – Amanda Glass
