Started off the Fall season in the best way we knew how! We took advantage of the beautiful weather and headed off to have lunch in Central Park. It doesn’t get any more picture perfect than this! With all of our favorite snacks present and lots of lemonade, we enjoyed the company of one another! Tons of laughs, polaroids taken, and popcorn fights were had. What better way to spend a cool, crisp afternoon in New York City? I think we all agreed that there truly couldn’t have been a dreamier picnic. It was straight out of a story book! We even had other people stop by to take photos of the beautiful spread!

Time spent with friends is never wasted!

What snacks would you bring to your picnic?

Gotta snap a Polaroid or it didn’t happen. amiright?

Take a look at our spread! Name something prettier. I’ll wait…

These pretzels were HUGE! They were made for sharing. And so are laughs! We encourage you to get outside with your family and friends and enjoy the new season. Happy Fall!

#PVtakesNYC! We were so excited to get the gang together in New York City this Fall season. There are too many things to see and do. The more we explored, the more we fell in love with this iconic city. You know what they say, “A city so nice, they named it twice!” Have you ever been to New York City? Follow along as we make our way around the Manhattan and Brooklyn and check out all the places we went to!

NOTHING beats a good city view! I mean look at those sparkling lights. Are we dreaming?!

We are living for all the rooftop hangs. Check out this view from the top of the Williamsburg Hotel in Brooklyn! Are you joking? All the heart eyes for this city.

Not to mention all the yummy coffee. Because caffiene breaks are essential, am I right?

What’s your go to drink?

Hanging out down under in the Oculus! This is part of One World Trade Center.

Did you even go to NYC if you didn’t walk across the Brooklyn Bridge?! One of our favorite landmarks we visited!

Any FRIENDS fans out there?! We took a stop to check out the apartment featured in the show. It doesn’t get more iconic than this! Everyone say cheeeese!

DUMBO! The classic Brooklyn shot featuring the Manhattan Bridge in the background.

DIY

Yarn Wall Hanging

August 30, 2017 — by Chelsey Bishoff

Simple simple and a beautiful accessory for any room! I am all about quick and easy. So, you can image how excited I am to share this DIY with you. Many of you have asked for more DIY wall hangings…so here we go! Most of my wall accessories are handmade. It’s so much fun to personalize your space and even have a few bragging rights when your friends ask where you got something. Don’t forget to check out some previous blogs on here to see even more!

What you will need:

  1. Yarn
  2. Stick
  3. Scissors

First begin by cutting 5 very long strands of string: about 3-4 feet. This will make up one bundle. Once you cut all 5 pieces the same length, fold in half so the ends touch. Put the middle fold under the horizontal stick as you see below. Repeat this step 1ox. You should have 10 bundles of string.

Now, bring up the ends to meet the middle loop at the top. Loop the ends through the fold as seen below. Repeat this step for all the bundles of string.

Here is what the final bundles should look like on the post.

In order to get the final tapered look to this wall hanging, take your scissors and cut down at an angle on both sides with the ending point being the very center. Don’t worry if it’s not perfect, sometimes rugged is better.

What does Pura Vida Mean?

September 22, 2014 — by Griffin Thall

A phrase that you will hear and see everywhere in Costa Rica is “Pura Vida”. The term “Pura Vida” has been present in Costa Rica’s vocabulary for over 50 years. It’s English translation means “pure life”  or “simple life”, however its more then just a phrase- it is a way of life.
Where did this phrase originally come from? People believe that the term “Pura Vida” came around in 1956 after a Mexican movie entitled “Pura Vida!” was released. In the movie, the main character uses the phrase throughout the movie to stay optimistic, happy, and full of life, despite all the negative circumstances around him. Thanks to this movie, the phrase “Pura Vida” is the unofficial motto to one of the happiest countries on Earth.
Pura Vida is so much more then just a phrase, it is their culture and way of life. Costa Ricans (Ticos) use this term to say hello, goodbye, or even to let people know everything’s good! Costa Ricans don’t just let the term bring them a good life, it’s the way they use it in their everyday attitude to make them happy. “Pura Vida” means that people need to be grateful for the things they do have in life, instead of dwelling on the negative things that they don’t. The phrase shows that no matter how bad you may think you have it, life for someone else can be far more less fortunate then your own. Life is too short to be worried and upset, everyone needed to make the most of life! All in all, the locals strive to live a stress free, laid-back life and they believe that their motto “Pura Vida” perfectly exemplifies how the locals live. Costa Ricans feel that if more “foreigners” grasped this concept, the world would be a lot happier.
“Pura Vida” is the back bone to this company. We believe in a pure and happy life, and that our company and products can bring that to many people around the world. Our products can make a big impact in customers lives, whether its helping their favorite charity, or creating their own bracelet and being a voice behind our brand. Pura Vida can help you find your pure life. ¡Pura Vida!

Find Your Pura Vida: Costa Rica

August 6, 2014 — by Griffin Thall

Expedia Viewfinder partnered with Pura Vida Bracelets to urge travelers to find their own versions of pure life in Costa Rica.

Costa Rica epitomizes the pura vida spirit with an ever-present sense of living life to the fullest.  From the enchanting scenery to the endless opportunities for adventure, there’s a little reminder around every corner encouraging everyone to slow down and revel in the moment.

Expedia Viewfinder and Pura Vida Bracelets partnered to showcase opportunities for finding fulfillment and gratification in Costa Rica.  After all, it was in this laidback destination where Pura Vida Bracelets cofounders, Griffin Thall and Paul Goodman, traveled post-graduation and found inspiration from the lifestyle to build their business around.  For globetrotters exploring Central America, slow down, appreciate, and discover pura vida spirt in these Costa Rican hot spots.

Soda La Naranja
This coastal country has a diverse and cultured food scene serving up everything from Mexican to Thai.  For those in the mood for experiencing the local grub though, head to Soda La Naranja in Montezuma for some authentic Costa Rican fare.  Nosh on gallo pinto and casados, and don’t miss out on the fresh juice selection.

Witch’s Rock

According to Thall, “Go out and surf,” is one of the best pieces of advice he ever received from a local.  Do as the locals do and shred the waves at Witch’s Rock in the Santa Rosa National Park.  Popularized in the cult classic, “Endless Summer II,” this favorite surf spot features a clean, sand- bottom beach break ideal for novices and experts alike.

Manuel Antonio National Park

What Manuel Antonio National Park lacks in size, it more than makes up for in diverse flora and fauna.  This national park is one of the smallest in Costa Rica, but it is home to 109 species of mammals and 184 species of birds.  It also boasts beaches, forests, mangrove swamps, and even lagoons.  Hit the trails and look out for sloths and iguanas, or take flight through the rainforest on a canopy zip line.  To further experience this oasis up close and personal, check out the kayaking, horseback riding, four-wheel driving, and parasailing options.

Catarata del Toro Waterfall

Nothing says “pura vida” like marveling at the Catarata del Toro Waterfall.  In fact, Thall says venturing to a waterfall is a 100% must-do activity during Costa Rican travels.  The Catarata del Toro Waterfall is one of the country’s best- kept secrets as the ancient volcanic crater features cascading water, fluttering hummingbirds, and captivating views.  Though it’s a hike to climb down the steps to the falls, the unspoiled serenity is well worth the workout.

Graffiti Restro Café and Wine Bar

It’s rare to find a restaurant both locals and tourists can agree on, but Graffiti just may be the exception.  Everyone seems to rave about the “ghetto gourmet” surf-and-turf cuisine at this boutique bistro in Jaco Beach, which is one of Thall’s favorite towns in Costa Rica.  Dedicated to the Slow Food Movement, the eclectic restro café takes an innovative approach to its one-of-a-kind gastronomy.  Kick back and toast travel adventures with a signature Graffiti aloe tini and a brag-worthy order of coffee-and-cacao- crusted beef tenderloin.

Today we’re dreaming of white sandy beaches, crystal clear water, and a lot of Vitamin D. The Maldive islands are a series of hot spots that make up twenty-six atolls in the middle of the Indian ocean. There’s also an island with a beach that illuminates at night called Vaadhoo Island. A great little escape for friends to enjoy water sports and couples to enjoy their honeymoon.

Soak Up The Sun

June 20, 2014 — by Griffin Thall

Soak up the sun this summer in Pura Vida!  We love these bright and flirty styles!

“These were taken at Cardiff near the cliffs.  It’s one of my favorite spots for all things fun in the sun!  I wanted the photos to be beachy, playful, and care-free especially for a SoCal summer.  I just happened to stumble across the purple flowers.  The color was so rad and insanely vibrant!  I’m actually the model in these photos.  They were done for my blog Braided Bliss; fashion blog featuring causes and organizations to help raise awareness.” – Ansley
