Free Compliment Board

With school right around the corner, we have decided to share some of our favorite DIY dorm decor ideas! Make someone’s day with this adorable Free Compliment Board. Hang this board on your dorm door and start spreading the love. Let’s get started!

What You’ll Need:
1) Paper
2) Scissors
3) Pen
4) Cork Board
5) Push Pins

Step 1: Cut paper into small squares

Step 2: Write a compliment on each square piece of paper

Step 3: Pin the compliments to the cork board (we turned our compliments around so they would be a surprise)

Step 4: Set your Free Compliment Board out and make someone’s day!

2 Minute French Toast

School has started (for most of us) and we have created the perfect breakfast to get you out the door on time. This breakfast is dorm room friendly and it only takes two minutes to make! Yay for french toast in a mug!

What you’ll need:

1)  Bread (we used texas toast bread)

2) 1 egg

3) 3 tablespoons milk

4) Cinnamon

5) Syrup

6) Your favorite mug

Step 1: Cut bread into cubes

DIY DORM DECOR PART 6 – Mini Tapestry

DIY dorm decor idea number six! This idea is a great way to bring color into your dorm. Check out our mini tapestry. We chose to dye our tapestry a deep blue and we added the same sequins that were used on our boho throw pillow to keep everything cohesive. Get creative! There are limitless designs for this craft!

What You’ll Need:

1) Fabric

2) Dye kit

3) Scissors

4) Thread

5) Needle

6) Rubber bands

7) Large bucket

Step 1: Cut fabric to desired shape

IMG_6956Step 3: Wrap rubber bands around the areas you want to stay white

IMG_6962Step 4: Make dye by following directions on packet

IMG_6979Step 5: Place fabric into dye and let sit for 2+ hours (the longer it sits the darker your fabric will be)

DIY DORM DECOR PART 5 – Marbled Coasters

DIY dorm decor idea number five! This idea is perfect for those moments when you find yourself hosting study group for the entire dorm floor. Check out our marbled coasters below. Be the hostess with the mostess this year!

What you’ll need:

1) Polymer clay

2) Parchment paper

3) Metallic paint

4) Paint brush

5) Rolling pin

Step 1: Break off a small piece of clay for each color

IMG_6840Step 2: Roll each peice of clay into a 8 or 9 inch strand

IMG_6868Step 3: Twist strands together to mix the colors

IMG_6893Step 5: Roll out clay into a disk large enough to fit underneath a glass (we measured our disk using the bottom of a mason jar)

IMG_6917Step 7: Place coasters into oven on 300°F for 25-30 minutes

DIY DORM DECOR PART 3 – Embroidered Map

DIY dorm decor idea number three! This idea is a great way to reminisce on all of your summer adventures as you start the school year. Check out our embroidered map below. We chose to embroider all of the states we have ever visited. This map will serve as a constant reminder of the places you have been and the places you will go!

What you’ll need:

1) Needle

2) Thread

3) Scissors

4) Pen (we used an embroidery transfer pen)

5) Fabric

6) Embroidery hoop

Get Started:

Step 1: Cut fabric into a square large enough to fit in the embroidery hoop

DIY DORM DECOR PART 2 – Boho Throw Pillow

DIY dorm decor idea number two! This idea is a simple and easy way to decorate your new bunk! All you need is an old throw pillow and a trim that makes your heart happy. Check out our new boho throw pillow below. Remember you can decorate your pillow however you would like to! Our design is just one idea.

What you’ll need:

1) Pillow

2) Needle

3) Thread

4) Sequins

5) Trim of your choice (we used two different trims to create our pillow)

6) Scissors

Step 1: Lay trim over pillow to measure the length needed for your design

Step 2: Cut trim to the length needed

DIY Dorm Decor Part 1 – Dream Catcher

With school right around the corner we have decided to share some of our favorite DIY dorm decor in a 6 part series! YAY! To start, we have created a whimsical dream catcher that takes less than 30 minutes to make. Not moving into a dorm? Thats okay! These decorations will bring happiness to any space.

What you’ll need:

1) Yarn

2) Needle

3) Thread

4) Sequins

5) Hoop

6) Crochet Doily

7) Scissors

Get Started:

Step 1: Place doily inside hoop

Step 2: Thread yarn through doily to secure the edges of the doily to the hoop

Step 3: Hand sew sequins to doily

Step 4: Cut at least 10 equal strands of yarn

Step 5: Tie strands of yarn to the bottom of the hoop
