We’ve been a huge fan of our friend Emily since we first laid eyes on her colorful artistic creations. Get to know one of fave artists and follow her Instagram for tons of inspiration and good vibes!

1) Introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about what you do, your art and where you’re from!

My name is Emily Deechaleune. I’m 22 years old. Born and raised in Methuen, Massachusetts. I’m a visual artist, who draws and paints 🙂 I usually do portraits and right now, I love to draw mandalas, zen doodle and things that are good vibe related, such as the sun, moon, elephants, flowers etc.

2) How did you get into being an artist?

I’ve loved art since I can remember. As a child I would always go to a book store called “Borders”. My brother and I would get drawing books and would learn to draw for hours. Since middle school, I always told myself that I would become some type of artist and would work in the arts field.

3)  What is one piece of advice you’d give to aspiring artists?

Dream big and NEVER GIVE UP on anything that makes you happy! Whatever you go through in life, you’re going to have your ups and downs and you need to fight through it. Don’t give up because it’s hard, push through it and you’ll learn and grow as a person. You’ll thank yourself later in the long run 🙂

4) What does ‘living free’ mean to you?

To me, living free means being your true self and doing whatever it is that your heart desires. People are going to judge you regardless if you’re a good or bad person. At the end of the day, all you have is yourself and you should make sure you’re doing things for you and not for others. Do things that satisfy your soul and make you happy.

Campus-reps 1

What is your name and where are you from?
My name is Maricruz Esquivel and I am from Anaheim, California! What do you like most about being a Pura Vida Rep?
I love letting people who know nothing about Pura Vida what it’s all about. Being a rep is a great opportunity to interact with new people, while also being able to support my favorite brand. How did you first hear about Pura Vida Bracelets?
I first saw them on Instagram, I never wore bracelets daily and now I do!

What advice would you give to other reps on how to be successful in the Campus Rep Program?
I think it’s important to focus better on people who don’t know about the company rather than those who do. There are plenty of people out there who don’t know PuraVida yet and would love to know about it. There is always people who will just see the bracelets and ask about them! They are really easy to sell and even better once they’re told more about how the bracelets give back to the community. It’s better to spread the word rather than circulate, that way more people will know about Pura Vida bracelets.

What made you want to be a Pura Vida Rep?
I love how Pura Vida is all about giving back, I think it’s amazing how many charities they support! I love what I’m supporting and it motivates me even more to spread the word around to everyone.

If you were a Pura Vida Bracelet, which one would you be?
Beach life! I enjoy being outdoors and I could literally be at the beach everyday!

What is your name and where are you from?
My name is Julia Howe and I’m from Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada!

What do you like most about being a Pura Vida Rep?
I love being able to share my passion for Pura Vida! Especially with fellow Canadians, as many people here are still not aware these bracelets exist and I’ve yet to hear someone say they don’t like them! Being able to offer people a discount, show them my bracelets and generate an interest for them is a great feeling! It’s nice when you’re able to be the one to introduce people to a great product, especially when it’s for a great cause.

How did you first hear about Pura Vida Bracelets?
I’m slightly embarrassed to say that I first saw them on the wrist of a past Bachelor contestant that I followed on Instagram. I immediately fell in love with them and must have looked through the website every day for a 6 month period before I finally made my first order – and I’ve been hooked ever since!

What advice would you give to other reps on how to be successful in the Rep Program?
My biggest piece of advice would be to be original! There are so many reps, especially on social media, that you have to differentiate yourself. In terms of social media, don’t just repost what everyone else is putting out there or comment your rep code on every single photo that pops up. Look for unique material, take your own pictures, reach out to any audience you can, answer questions and have a presence. I try to do a post each day so that Pura Vida is constantly on the mind of my followers. Share your discount with friends, with family, at work.. If you get one more person interested, they are now passing on that interest to their friends and family!

What made you want to be a Pura Vida Rep?
Who wouldn’t want to be a Pura Vida Rep?! My passion for these amazing bracelets and the amazing products! I love them, love the cause, love the charities Pura Vida supports. It is a privilege to be able to represent a brand you truly love and believe in! I would have been spreading the word about the company whether I was a rep or not, so I was more than happy to make it official 🙂

If you were a Pura Vida Bracelet, which one would you be?
I would say the Silver Feather Dark Grey. I like to keep things simple and love versatile jewellery that I can wear with many outfits, and dress up or down. I love that feathers symbolize the ability to move freely in life. Plus the bracelet is one of my favourites!
