If you’re anything like me, you drink A LOT of coffee! I noticed that  I was going through so many cans. So, I decided to do a little craft and recycle my empty coffee cans. Why not make something beautiful out of them? I thought about it and I am also always needing new pots for all my plants. Well, these make for the perfect planter. You just need a few supplies to turn this empty coffee can, into an adorable planter.

What you will need:

  1. Empty coffee can
  2. Hot glue gun + glue
  3. Jute
  4. White spray paint

Start by totally cleaning out your coffee can + removing the label. Then lay out newspaper or craft paper outside + spray paint it!

Once totally covered, let dry for about 15 min!

Next step: add a dab of hot glue in the back of the can. Start there and secure the first end of the jute. Once the glue has dried, begin to wrap the jute all the way around the top of the can. We went all the way down until we reached the next groove in the can. Then glue that end.

Do the same steps to the bottom section.

This is what it should look like when all the jute has been added.

Now, time to plant!! How perfect?!

We are all about latest trends, but we’re also all about taking those trends and making it our own. Today we will show you how to take a plain ol’ sweatshirt and spice it up to create a whole new look.

What you’ll need:

-An old sweater and sweatshirt

-Scissors and a razor blade

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Start by cutting around the neck of the shirt.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Take a white pencil and trace what you want your neckline to look like. We are cutting a deep V in ours.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Next, cut along the white line you drew.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Step one is done! Now off to step two. We are now going to cut slits in the shirt. Be intentional about where you choose to cut the holes. You don’t want to add too many.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Go in with a razor blade and gently take it across the fabric to create frays. Do this on the cut outs and wherever else you want.

Store your jewelry in style! Today on the blog we are going to walk you step by step on how to make the cutest ring holders. If you’re anything like me, you have far TOO many rings. At the end of the day I tend to usually just throw my rings in a dish, but let me tell ya… that dish is a little passed full and totally overflowing. Now, I have plenty of room to store all my rings safely and fashionably! Your rings are gonna soon look amazing on AND off!

Supplies you’ll need:

-Oven safe clay

-Acrylic paints

-Glossy top coat

-Different size paint brushes

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Start by rolling your clay into a ball. Begin to roll out into a long tube shape. Next, begin to knead the clay until you get it to the cone shape of your liking.

I decided to make mine a few different sizes to keep it interesting. Once you have formed your cones, stick them in the oven at 300 degrees. Let bake for about 15 minutes.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Once you have baked the clay cones for 15 minutes. Pull out of the oven and let cool. Now for the fun part, PAINTING TIME! I went with a metallic gold and bronze and a little bit of black here and there.  You can get as creative as you like! Feel free to make your cones match your style and paint them using any colors or patterns!

Relax and free your mind. Getting started with a new year and new priorities can be a lot to load on your plate and can take a toll on your body and mind. It’s important to set goals, but dont forget to take care of yourself along the way. Did you know most of the stress we endure is brought on by ourselves? We decided to un-fog our mind and let free for a bit during an evening beach yoga session.

Pay close attention to the air flowing into your lungs and be intentional with your breaths.

At the end of the day, go over what you are grateful for. Make a mental list of all the good thats to come your way and how you will achieve just that. Taking time for yourself is so important, yet we often forget to take a minute and just breathe. We encourage you to get moving this week and stay active, or just take a moment to enjoy the life all around you. Namaste.

Feather Wall Hanging

January 26, 2017 — by Chelsey Bishoff

IMG_3956-1-960x1440.jpg

Fill your space with indie vides with this DIY feather wall hanging. Perfect for a rainy day craft when you’re stuck inside. Whether you are wanting to add to the atmosphere of your bedroom or fill in a gap, this will work perfectly. It’s small size makes it easy to place anywhere, as well! All you’ll need are a few different materials. You can totally get creative and personalize this to fit you also. We chose to work with some jute, lace, gold ribbons and some feathers!

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

We started in the middle and worked our way to the outside. Choose which material you want to work with first, and secure it to the top by knotting it. Feel free to make your strands as long or as short as you would like. You can also decide whether you want your strands to be in a pattern or random. We thought it would be funky to just go for it and place our materials at random!!

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Add some texture by braiding some of the different pieces together!

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

It can become repetitive, so the more texture the better!

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Once you cut your pieces to the length you like, add a feather at the end of select strands! Just secure the feather by double knotting it to the end of your string.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Double up some layers, braid here and there and BAM! There ya have it. SO cute, right? To hang, cut a piece of jute long enough to stretch end to end with enough slack to hang at your preferred length. Then just tack it up!

January 7, 2017 — by Chelsey Bishoff

IMG_3098.jpg

New year, new room decor? We think YES! So, this blog is really simple and customizable. We decided to take some of our favorite moments from travels in 2016 and hang them up. Included from personal memories are a few pictures that just bring good vibes and inspo. What better way to reflect on all the adventures you experienced and to also inspire you to do even MORE with 2017!! If you rather, you don’t have to stick to moments just from 2016, you can do any memories. Or you can make a collage of  just inspo pics you love. The choice is yours!

What you’ll need:

-Print out however many pictures you want.

-A stick, fishing wire

-Hot glue gun and glue

-Tacks to hang it up with

Processed with VSCO with a6 presetArrange your photos however you would like vertically.Processed with VSCO with a6 presetOnce you have arranged them the way you like, flip them over. We will now be using our hot glue to secure the fishing wire on the backs.Processed with VSCO with a6 presetMake sure to space the pictures evenly. Cut the wire as long or as short as needed.Processed with VSCO with a6 presetPut a tiny dot of glue at the top and bottom of the photo. Pull the wire tight enough so there is no slack. This will help the pictures lie flatter. You can also add a dot in the middle for extra security.Processed with VSCO with a6 presetCut a piece of the wire and tie to each end of the branch. Use a few tacks to hang. And you’re done!! SO cute, right?!Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

Ocean Glass Bottles

August 14, 2016 — by Chelsey Bishoff

IMG_3725.jpg

Who else loves to recycle? WE DO! For our little DIY this week we took a piece of the sea back home with us. Besides, who actually likes to say goodbye to the shore? Create your own island vibes in your very own home with just a few items!

What You’ll Need:

-Your favorite kind of seashells, sea dollars or any other beachy accent.

-Super glue & scissors

-Jute

-A few glass jars or bottles. We recycled some old spice bottles! We encourage you to get creative and reuse a material you already have in your home.

Let’s get started!

Here, all we did was begin to wrap the jute around the top of our bottle as shown below:

After we glued the ends to keep the jute in place, we added a seashell right in the center using super glue.

For our next bottle, we didn’t add as much jute, only a few wraps around the top.

We decided to put a sea dollar on this bottle. We slipped the jute through one of the holes in the sea dollar. Then tied the jute in the back, allowing the sea dollar to dangle just a bit.

Can’t forget to add a star fish!

Always a good day when creating your own beachy escape.

Finished product!

We tied jute around the neck of the bottle so we could hang them. Make yours whatever length you want!
