“A smile is the curve that sets everything straight”.

Smiles are contagious.  A smile can make an impact and completely change someones day.  Smiles lead to laughter and laughter leads to happiness.  Laughter is the best medicine for the mind, body, and soul.  It’s great for stress relief, anxiety, and overall mood.  Laughter attracts us to one another.  It helps bring people together.  Which in return helps us build stronger relationships.

We believe laughter and happiness go hand in hand.  Happiness is the key to living a successful life.  What makes you happy?

Reasons Why Photos Are Important

March 18, 2014 — by Griffin Thall

From camera phones to digital cameras, our generation takes thousands of photos everyday.  I believe pictures are an important process.  They help us freeze a memory in time.  They take us back to a place we might have forgotten.  Photos are an expressive way of art.  They help us understand the beauty of life.

Not every photo is the same but they’re all worth a thousand words.  It’s all about the individual taking the photo.  The way they view life through the lens.  For Pura Vida, photos help us tell our story.  The story behind the string and the many different lives we are able to change.

As the weather is warming and summer is approaching, it’s essential to capture those everlasting moments.  Don’t forget to tag us on Instagram wearing your favorite Pura Vida Bracelets.  We want to see the way you live your life!

Life is short. There aren’t enough seconds in a minute or hours in a day to have anything but a smile on your face. Sometimes we forget how small we are in this huge world, but how much of a huge impact we can make. Be sure to always surround yourself with people, places, and things that you love. With a whole lot of inspiration and determination, anyones dreams can soon become their reality. Enjoy what you do – and if you don’t, simply drop it and pick up somewhere new. Whatever you are… be a great one!

How to Get Through a Case of the Mondays

February 17, 2014 — by Griffin Thall

CaseoftheMondays.jpg
Mondays are hard. We know this. When our alarms go off in the wee hours of the morning, feelings of dread sink in. We hope it’s a dream. We beg for five more precious minutes of sleep. But our pleading goes unnoticed and we throw back our covers in despair.

Because, for a lot of us, Mondays irrevocably suck, I have provided a somewhat certifiable list of how to get through this day we all seemingly dread. It may not make you feel better, but it will definitely elevate your levels of pre-work productivity; I guarantee it.

  1. Plan what you wear the night before. I know, I know. You’ve heard this before. So as you nod in exasperation that, “YES, YOU GOT IT,” actually do it. Try it out for a week and see if you find your have just a little extra time before leaving to go to work, and if you don’t than I apologize.
  1. Have your coffee set on a timer. AKA if you have a fancy Keurig, I’m pretty sure you can time it so that you already have a piping cup of Joe ready for you as you wake up. Nothing is better than waking up to the smell of coffee. Nothing.
  1. Make your lunch the night before. This means packaging everything and getting the whole debacle situated. That way, you can just grab it out of the fridge on your way out.
  1. Splash cold water on your face. Go for an early morning workout or hop in the shower. Do something that will wake up your senses because that jolt is the only way you are going to experience maximum Monday productivity.
  1. Have a protein-filled breakfast. Whether you like to make eggs in the morning or good old-fashioned oatmeal, eat something. Fuel your body and in turn fuel your mind.
  1. Don’t check social media until after you get to the office. Those things are mere distracters and you don’t need to get distracted when you already have t-minus five minutes to get out the door before you are officially late.
  1. Make sure your car is filled up with gas Sunday night. Or you at least have enough to get to work and back on Monday. Nobody wants to stop for gas on the way to work.
  1. Drink water throughout the day and pack a snack. Everybody gets hungry around 3p.m. and nothing is worse than staring at the clock as you wait for the chance to grab a bite. Drinking water helps too. Hydrate people!
  1. Charge up your laptop and computer Sunday night. Yes, research says it may not be good to keep your phone charged once it is at 100%, so charge it for an hour before you go to sleep. There is nothing worse than getting to work only to realize your phone is dead and you have no way of communicating with the entire world for the rest of the day. Even though the entire world may in fact be your best friend and your mom. But still… they count.
  2. And, if your case of the Mondays is actually a case of the workdays, and you hate your job, wake up early and be productive in the sense of finding something else to do with your time. Waking up an hour before you normally would to send out job applications is time well spent. This way, when you go to work, dreading your day, at least you can know that you did something, no matter how small, to make your life a little better.

The Little Gold “P”

February 3, 2014 — by Griffin Thall

LittleP1.jpg
That little gold “P” means more than you think. It isn’t just a symbol of a brand that you like to wear. It is more than a trademark, a simple patent among thousands.

The little gold “P” represents hundreds of jobs for local artisans in Costa Rica, who were previously unemployed. Something so small spawned a market of crafting small, colorful string into beautiful, simple products.

The little gold “P” represents charity. And how giving back to an organization is the only way to truly experience success. It’s karmic prowess gives it accolades that other brands don’t have nor ever will. It built its foundation on giving back and continues to donate. In 2013, Pura Vida Bracelets donated $9,568 to The Cove/ Oceanic Preservation Society, and $6,000 to the Sea Turtle Conservancy, with hopes to double those numbers by the end of 2014.

The little gold “P” represents fashion and creating innovative trends that consistently capture consumer attention. Its subtle vintage feel combined with an eclectic array of colors and metals makes the Pura Vida product one to look out for. Not only are the bracelets easy to wear, but their simplistic nature and vibrant color palette makes wearing them a sort of art form.

And finally, this little gold “P” represents an extension of who you are and who you want to be. It is a reminder of how you want to express yourself because wearing these bracelets allows that expression to fully form. Not to mention they are fun and versatile, which can’t be said about a lot of brands.

Let that singular letter brighten your day and open you up to new experiences, because the possibilities are endless.

10 Ways to be Happier

February 3, 2014 — by Griffin Thall

BeHappier.jpg
Life moves so quickly. Sometimes we forget just how fast. It is already February and it seems as if only yesterday we rang in the New Year.

So it is nice to slow down sometimes. Wearing a Pura Vida bracelet means you are experiencing life at a more amplified level than most. When you see life in color, when you live it with more passion and appreciate your surroundings; more inspires you.

We all start with something and we let that something grow. Pura Vida has grown into a lifestyle brand that exudes the positivity we all need to keep going. And not only is Pura Vida a lifestyle we strive to embody, but it is a brand that is breaking the boundaries of fashion in the accessories market while giving back to the community through charities such as For the Planet, the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America and the American Institute for Cancer Research.

The bracelets are colorful, vivid, stylish and easy-to-wear; they go with almost everything. Stack them, mix them, match them or don’t. Do whatever it is that makes you feel good because that is the purpose of the brand. To allow you as the consumer to make each day a little bit brighter.

Below is a simple list of things you can do to make your day better. Because yes, we may all have work tomorrow, and yes we have to get up early. But be thankful for the fact that you have a job, and that you have the day to live. Because a lot of people don’t have those same opportunities which you take for granted.

Things to do to make you happier:

  1. Take somebody out to lunch or dinner. And just take them for no other reason than you appreciate them. Sometimes we emphasize money too much, when in the grand scheme of things, paying the bill on a $30 tab won’t really make a difference in your life.
  2. Make a list of all the things you want to achieve for the week, no matter how impossible each task may seem. Just make a list and complete it. Whether your list is a simple to-do list or it has something crazy on it, doing it will make you feel accomplished and that much better about your life.
  3. Step outside. Give yourself a little break, breathe in the fresh air, look around and examine the life that is literally teeming in front of you.
  4. Go see a movie by yourself. If you really want to, and none of your friends are willing to venture with you, than just go. We need to start doing things for ourselves, because in the long run it’ll only make us happier.
  5. Be more honest with the people around you and ultimately be more honest with yourself. If you like somebody, don’t be afraid to talk about it with him or her. And if you hate something that a person consistently does in your presence, tell said person (in a nice way) because he or she probably doesn’t even realize it is happening.
  6. Don’t be afraid to spend money on yourself. I have found that buying a newer, more expensive outfit isn’t always the worst thing. Buy Coachella tickets because that is something you really want to do. It is okay to splurge… I mean that’s why it’s called “splurging” – because it doesn’t happen all the time.
  7. Pick up the phone and call people. Don’t text so much. Try to Snapchat a little less and experience people on a more elevated, interpersonal level.
  8. Exercise! Endorphins make you happy. And exercising is one of the best ways to not only feel that natural high, but to feel good about yourself and your body.
  9. Don’t focus on the negative. So you failed your test – do better next time. You maybe didn’t stick to your diet this week – try harder this upcoming week. And maybe, you made a fool of yourself in front of that person you like. Ultimately, you can’t go back in time and change anything, so just move on. If whatever happened with this person caused them to change his or her opinion of you so much that they don’t want to talk to you any more, than they weren’t worth your time to begin with
  10. Smile. Smile at strangers. Spark up conversation with the grocer at Trader Joe’s. People are usually pretty friendly, and if anything, you’ll make someone’s day a little brighter just by recognizing the fact that he or she isn’t merely there to bag your food or serve your meals at a restaurant.
