As the school year hits us full force we are all scrambling on how to decorate our dorm rooms, lockers, and desks as cute and original as possible. That’s why DIY’s are so great and we are here to help walk you through it step by step. Trust me, I’m always the first one trying to do something different or make something ordinary, totally unique to my personality. So, today on the blog I decided to make some DIY magnets. These are perfect for your locker, any sort of white board or magnetic calendar.

Here is what you’ll need:

  1. cork board
  2. paints + paint brush
  3. razor blade knife
  4. pencil and stick on magnets (found at any craft store)
  5. circle stencil (or circular object to trace)

Begin by taking your circular stencil and making 3-5 circle cutouts of the cork board. Once you have drawn them all out, cut them out with your razor knife.

Now, take the stick-on magnet strand and cut small snippets of the magnet.

Small enough to fit onto the back of the cork board cutouts.

What you will do first is paint the entire cork board magnet with a layer of white paint. Let dry.

Once they have dried, you can decide what you want to paint on them! You can use this part to get totally creative. We decided to go with a pineapple, cactus, palm leaf and polka-dots!

Use them to hold reminders on your calendar or locker!

Or decorate your dorm room mini fridge with them!

We are getting close to back to school season. I know, you dont want to hear it butttt its better to be prepared! Plus, what’s better than DIY back to school crafts? They are original and fun! Today I am showing you guys how to make the cutest pineapple cutout cork board. This is perfect for your locker, dorm room or at home office.

Here is what you will need:

  1. Cork board
  2. razor blade
  3. sharpie
  4. craft paints
  5. paper to draw your pineapple on to use as a stencil

Begin by sketching out the pineapple shape you want before cutting into your cork board. I went for a more geometric theme. Place the stencil on the cork board and trace all the way around it with a razor blade.

Now, you should have a complete duplicate of the pineapple stencil with the cork board.

Go ahead and get your sharpie ready for the next step!

Finish drawing in the shape of crown of the pineapple. You will need to see the difference between the body and crown of the fruit when painting it.

Pick your paints, and get started on the pineapple crown. I went with a mint green color.

As you can see, I used my razor to cut out 3 different sized triangles to use as stamps with the leftover cork board scraps. I dipped these is selected colors and stamped them all over the body of the pineapple.

I filled up the whole pineapple with fun colored triangles to stick to the geometric theme!

All done! How cute is this?? I’m LOVING mine! Hang in your locker, at your desk or in your dorm room. It’s perfect for reminders, pictures and cute notes!
