Real evergreens and artificial trees aren’t the only Christmas tree options available. Check out these alternative holiday trees that are far from the ordinary and perfect for any size space!

1) Festive Feathers

The jewel tones in this gorgeous peacock-feathered tree are seasonable without being obvious.

3) Coastal Christmas Cheer

Celebrate Christmas with some coastal flair and make a tree out of driftwood found on the beach!

4) Elegant Doily Christmas Trees

Create lacy winter trees with paper doilies, hot glue and a few sturdy twigs or skewers. Cut a wedge out of a round doily and bring the cut edges together to form a cone. The size of your wedge will determine how narrow the cone is. Glue the cone together and slide onto the stick. Glue into place. Add more cones in decreasing sizes to create a layered tree.

5) Seasonal Succulents

Who says evergreens should have all the fun? Carefully-arranged succulents look wild in the shape of a Christmas tree. And if you live in a temperate climate, this tree would be especially appropriate.

December 3, 2015 — by Griffin Thall

GiveBack-Feature.jpg

To give is to receive! Make this season extra special by giving more kindness, love and your time in addition to all the wonderful presents. Here are 14 Ways to Give Back During the Holidays to get you inspired:

Kindness-Feature

1) Ask everyone to donate to your favorite charity instead of buying you a present this holiday season.
2) Organize a toy drive at your school.
3) Grab a group of your friends and volunteer at the local food bank.
4) Remind people on your social media to also give back during the holidays. Every bit counts no matter the size or the contribution.
5) If you live in a snowy state, shovel your neighbours’ driveways after a big snowfall. BONUS, it’s a great workout!
6) If you live in a sunny state, mow your neighbours’ lawns as a surprise for when they get home from work.
7) Bake chocolate chip cookies and bring some hot chocolate to your local fire or police station.
8) Get creative and draw up a coupon book to give to your parents/siblings/roomies etc. for house chores you wouldn’t normally do.
9) Gather up your old coats and donate them to Goodwill or a homeless shelter.
10) In the Starbucks line, pay for the person’s coffee behind you.
11) Write a kind, cheerful note and leave it on someone’s windshield.
12) Bring some blankets, pet food or toys to the animal shelter.
13) Have a holiday bake sale and donate the profits to your local homeless shelter.
14) Shop our Charity Collection and cross some lucky people off of your gift list. Each bracelet donates to a different cause so you can give gifts AND give back at the same time!

12 #relationshipgoals That Actually Matter

November 20, 2015 — by Griffin Thall

RelationshipGoals-Feature.jpg

We all have an ideal mate and maybe even a list of traits that we’d like our partner to have. It’s always great to set goals, but sometimes we can lose sight of the qualities that can help our relationships go from short to long-term. Here’s 12 #relationshipgoals that actually matter:

1) You and your partner love spending time with one another’s families.
2) You listen to each other and can have endless conversations about everything from which celebrity wore it best to how to solve world hunger.
3) You support one another’s dreams.
4) You have fun doing absolutely nothing together.
5) You call each other your best friend.
6) You enjoy each other’s company whether you’re out for a nice dinner or spending time in front of the TV.
7) You surprise each other with little handmade gifts or handwritten notes just because.
8) You trust each other completely and have no trouble being completely honest.
9) You often show up wearing almost matching outfits without knowing what your partner was going to wear.
10) You respect each other’s personal space and privacy.
11) When you’re together, you don’t feel like you need to check your phones.
12) You inspire one another.

6 Yoga Poses to De-Stress

November 18, 2015 — by Griffin Thall

Feature-YogaPoses2.jpg

The holiday season is coming up and during this time, it can get pretty hectic with balancing work, exams, school, family, friends and also finding time for yourself. Here are 6 yoga poses you can practice whenever you can spare a few minutes that will automatically lower your stress levels:

1) Child’s Pose

slide_289686_2291603_free

The calming child’s pose is a resting posture that can help quiet the mind, easing stress and anxiety while gently stretching the back.

2) Seated Forward Bend

Untitled-3

This pose provides a complete stretch of the entire backside of the body from the back of the head through the heels. Slowly breathe into the pose and lower towards your knees. If your nose can touch your legs great! If not, even better!

3) Eagle Pose

Untitled-1

The active and empowering eagle pose can help ward off stress by improving concentration and balance and also by opening up the shoulders, upper back and hips.

4) Corpse Pose

slide_289686_2291611_free

Most yoga practices end with several minutes spent in savasana, and it can easily be the most calming part of the whole thing. The pose puts the body completely at ease and emphasizes total relaxation. Savasana can trigger the body’s “relaxation response,” a state of deep rest that slows the breathing and lowers the blood pressure while quieting the nervous system.

5) Cat Pose

slide_289686_2291717_free

The cat pose soothes and stretches the lower back, relieving stress while gently massaging the spine. Try arching and rounding the back 10 times in a row while focusing on deep inhaling and exhaling.

6) Downward Dog

Untitled-2

This popular pose is common for a reason: it stretches your entire body from your neck to your toes. Also, being inverted has great benefits. Any pose where the heart is above the head is a good one for the circulatory system because it encourages blood flow throughout the body. An active circulatory system helps flush toxins from our body, keep our immune system in tip-top shape, and helps regulate blood pressure.
