Fairy Garden

January 29, 2018 — by Chelsey Bishoff

Okay, so how cutie are fairy gardens? We have been seeing them all over the place so we figured it was time to make one of our own! The fun part is that we found the base of our garden in vintage stores. We are using a milk glass bowl from the 1930’s! Isn’t that neat? DIY’s are much more fun when you get to make it your own. Use whatever materials you want to make your fairy garden exactly how you like!

Supplies:

  1. Bowl/container for the base
  2. Dirt and moss (faux or real)
  3. Mini house or any other fairy accessories
  4. Pebbles

Begin by packing in the dirt

We dug up some moss from the yard. Add that on top of the dirt.

Next, is the best part! Add all the “fairy” accessories you would like. We decided to place a mini house and use pebbles as a walk way.

Sweet and simple!

We accompanied ours with some plants and a yummy candle to get the vibe we were going for!

NYE Star Garland

December 29, 2017 — by Chelsey Bishoff

Need simple New Years Eve decor? We’ve got ya covered. These cutie star cutouts are sure to do the trick for any occasion. We’re loving the neutral colors with the little touch of sparkle! Hang these practically anywhere in your room or throughout the house. You can also lay them flat at the snack table for an extra touch of NYE glam. Follow along to see how to make them!

Supplies:

  1. Craft paper
  2. Scissors
  3. Glue gun
  4. Tape
  5. Pencil
  6. Star stensil
  7. String
  8. Mini sparkle pom poms

Begin by tracing the star stencil on the craft paper of your choice. We used several different patterns, but all within the same color scheme.

Use your pencil and lightly trace around the stencil.

Once you have traced about 3-4 stars out per piece of paper, begin to cut them out.

You should have several stars cutout with different patterns.

Lay your stars out in whichever pattern you like. We made 2 separate strands. Place a pom pom in between each star.

Cut your string as long as you need it to place all the stars and pom poms evenly.

Tape the string to the back of your stars. Hot glue the pom noms in between the stars.

Happy New Year!

Yarn Wall Hanging

August 30, 2017 — by Chelsey Bishoff

Simple simple and a beautiful accessory for any room! I am all about quick and easy. So, you can image how excited I am to share this DIY with you. Many of you have asked for more DIY wall hangings…so here we go! Most of my wall accessories are handmade. It’s so much fun to personalize your space and even have a few bragging rights when your friends ask where you got something. Don’t forget to check out some previous blogs on here to see even more!

What you will need:

  1. Yarn
  2. Stick
  3. Scissors

First begin by cutting 5 very long strands of string: about 3-4 feet. This will make up one bundle. Once you cut all 5 pieces the same length, fold in half so the ends touch. Put the middle fold under the horizontal stick as you see below. Repeat this step 1ox. You should have 10 bundles of string.

Now, bring up the ends to meet the middle loop at the top. Loop the ends through the fold as seen below. Repeat this step for all the bundles of string.

Here is what the final bundles should look like on the post.

In order to get the final tapered look to this wall hanging, take your scissors and cut down at an angle on both sides with the ending point being the very center. Don’t worry if it’s not perfect, sometimes rugged is better.

We’re always looking for new ways to add to our space. The more the better! What are your favorite accessories in your room? We think this may be your new favorite! It’s a super simple glass cylinder wrapped in boho feathers. Set a candle in it and whoa, watch your space GLOW up! SO beautiful. Follow along and watch how to make!

What you will need:

  1. Glass cylinder
  2. Feathers
  3. Hot glue gun + glue
  4. Scissors
  5. Candle + candle holder

Step one: Pick a place to begin on the jar. Start by snipping the end of the feather. You want to leave just a little bit, but majority should be cut off for the best result.

Put a dab of hot glue at the bottom where you will secure the end of the feather stem.

Continue to do this all the way around. We thought it looked best to use a variety of feathers when gluing around the vase.

Once you have covered the glass cylinder, put the candle in the center and place anywhere in your room! We decided to pair ours with a few crystals and salt lamp.

Feather Wall Hanging

January 26, 2017 — by Chelsey Bishoff

Fill your space with indie vides with this DIY feather wall hanging. Perfect for a rainy day craft when you’re stuck inside. Whether you are wanting to add to the atmosphere of your bedroom or fill in a gap, this will work perfectly. It’s small size makes it easy to place anywhere, as well! All you’ll need are a few different materials. You can totally get creative and personalize this to fit you also. We chose to work with some jute, lace, gold ribbons and some feathers!

We started in the middle and worked our way to the outside. Choose which material you want to work with first, and secure it to the top by knotting it. Feel free to make your strands as long or as short as you would like. You can also decide whether you want your strands to be in a pattern or random. We thought it would be funky to just go for it and place our materials at random!!

Add some texture by braiding some of the different pieces together!

It can become repetitive, so the more texture the better!

Once you cut your pieces to the length you like, add a feather at the end of select strands! Just secure the feather by double knotting it to the end of your string.

Double up some layers, braid here and there and BAM! There ya have it. SO cute, right? To hang, cut a piece of jute long enough to stretch end to end with enough slack to hang at your preferred length. Then just tack it up!
