How would you decorate your fall pumpkins?!

October 16, 2016 — by Chelsey Bishoff

Pumpkins on pumpkins on pumpkins! We’re loving all the fun things that you can do with them. The options are truly endless. This time around we were inspired by a favorite snack of ours– DONUTS! Go ahead, call some friends over and get crafty. Let’s get started!

What you’ll need:

  1. Small pumpkins
  2. Craft paint (pick whichever colors you like!)
  3. Paint brushesWe first cleaned our pumpkins to get any extra dirt off so they were nice and smooth.Start by putting the first layer of paint on. You will need to put 2-3 coats of paint depending on the pigment of the colors you chose. Let paint dry for about 3-5 minutes in between layers. When painting the “icing” on, make sure to leave a ring around the stem as the “donut hole.” And don’t worry– it doesn’t need to be perfect, because hey, donuts aren’t always perfectly iced!Processed with VSCO with a6 presetYay! The first few layers are done and ready to let sit and dry. Allow pumpkins to sit for about 5 minutes before painting on the sprinkles. Feel free to do whatever “toppings” you want on your donut-pumpkin. Get creative!Time for sprinkles!!Hmmm… which is what??We LOVE how our donut-pumkins turned out!We wanna see what awesome crafts your doing while rocking your Pura Vida Bracelets. Chocolate Covered Apple Pops

September 26, 2016 — by Chelsey Bishoff

Here’s a treat that everyone can enjoy! Why? Because you pick the toppings! Personalize your treat with your favorites. We’re going to show you how to create the most delicious, no-bake snack! Tag along to see how we made our Apple Pops this season.

What You’ll Need:

  1. 3-6 fresh apples ( depending on how many you are making)
  2. White chocolate chips & milk chocolate chips
  3. Coconut Oil
  4. M&M’s or your favorite candy
  5. Mini oreos
  6. Large pretzels
  7. Large popsicle sticks

Pour 2 cups of milk chocolate chips into a mixing bowl. Then add  1 1/2 tablespoons of coconut oil. Microwave this for about 1 min. Mix until smooth and silky.

Pour 1 cup of the white chocolate chips into a mixing bowl. Then add 1 tablespoon of coconut oil. Repeat the microwave steps as you did before.

When cutting the apples, make your slices at least half an inch thick in order to fit a popsicle stick later.

Once sliced, cut a small slit into the bottom. Then insert the popsicle stick.

Dip and cover apple in milk chocolate.

Take a spoon and begin to drizzle the white chocolate onto the dipped apples.

Here’s the fun part! TOPPING TIME. Take whichever treats you picked, and begin to cover the dipped apple pops.

Once they are all covered to your liking, refrigerate for 12-15 min. Enjoy!

19 Fall-themed Date Ideas

October 15, 2015 — by Griffin Thall

Transition into the new season with these 19 fall-themed date ideas so you and your boo can make memories and have fun:

1) Go on a hike to see the beautiful changing leaves.

2) Watch horror movies on a Netflix night in.

3) Rake leaves into giant piles then jump in them. Repeat.

4) Visit the pumpkin patch, pick out a pumpkin and carve it at home. Don’t forget to roast the seeds for a yummy snack!

5) Read books at your favorite coffee shop for the whole day.

6) Walk through the city and have a fall photoshoot together.

7) Go through each of your closets and donate stuff you don’t need anymore. Giving together is the best!

8) Take turns sketching and drawing each other’s faces. It sounds cheesy, but it’s actually really hilarious.

9) Brainstorm cute and equally awesome couple’s costumes for Halloween.

10) Take a weekend road trip to a new town you both have never been to before.

11) Pick apples from your local orchard or farm then bake them into an apple pie.

12) Football game anyone? Whether it be you actually throwing around a football, watching it on TV or heading to a live game together, you can’t have fall without a bit of football.

13) Go fall camping. Bring a tent, everything you need for smores and your coziest sweaters, socks and blankets.

14) Hop in the car and just drive around with your favorite playlist on repeat. Bonus points for a coffee pit-stop.

15) Cuddle on the couch the whole day and eat snacks. Yes, this is completely acceptable as a date.

16) After lots of couch time, you could then hit the gym together and take turns showing one another an exercise. Whip up some post-workout green smoothies for a sweet treat.

17) Go to a bookstore and read all of your favorite magazines together.

18) Go out for dinner except only order desserts. Instead of sitting across from each other, sit beside one another — way cozier.

19) Volunteer at your local food bank together.

Pumpkin Spice Latte

October 9, 2015 — by Griffin Thall

It’s not officially fall until you’ve had your first sip of a pumpkin spice latte, right? Save some bucks (and a few calories) and follow this recipe which, unlike the one from Starbucks, actually has pumpkin in it!

Makes 2 drinks
2 tablespoons canned pumpkin
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice, plus more to garnish
Freshly ground black pepper
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons pure vanilla extract
2 cups whole milk
1 to 2 shots espresso, about 1/4 cup
1/4 cup heavy cream, whipped until firm peaks form

Mixer, whisk, or hand blender, to whip cream
Wooden spoon
Espresso maker or coffee maker

1) Heat the pumpkin and spices: In a small saucepan over medium heat, cook the pumpkin with the pumpkin pie spice and a generous helping of black pepper for 2 minutes or until it’s hot and smells cooked. Stir constantly.

2) Stir in the sugar: Add the sugar and stir until the mixture looks like a bubbly thick syrup.

3) Warm the milk: Whisk in the milk and vanilla extract. Warm gently over medium heat, watching carefully to make sure it doesn’t boil over.

4) Blend the milk: Carefully process the milk mixture with a hand blender or in a traditional blender (hold the lid down tightly with a thick wad of towels!) until frothy and blended.

5) Mix the drinks: Make the espresso or coffee and divide between two mugs and add the frothed milk. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, or nutmeg if desired.
